US-Israeli attacks on Iran: live death toll and injuries | Conflict News

Blast are heard in Iran, Israel and several Middle Eastern states after the United States and Israel began attacking Iran on Saturday.

Tehran responded by launching waves of missiles and drones at Israel and several military bases in the Middle East where US forces operate.

Iran had previously warned that if attacked it would retaliate by targeting US military installations in the region, which it considers legitimate targets.

Which countries were attacked?

The Israeli Air Force says it dropped more than 1,200 munitions on 24 of Iran's 31 provinces over the past day as part of its joint attack with the United States.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched attacks on 27 bases in the Middle East where US troops are deployed as well as Israeli military installations in Tel Aviv and other areas of Israel.

So far, Iran has launched strikes in eight countries around the world. region: Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.

Most of these attacks were intercepted.

American military presence in the Middle East

The United States has operated military bases in the Middle East for decades.

According to the Council on Foreign Relations, the United States operates an extensive network of military sites, both permanent and temporary, spread across at least 19 locations across the region.

Of these, eight are permanent bases in Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

As of mid-2025, approximately 40,000 to 50,000 U.S. troops were stationed in the Middle East at large permanent bases and smaller forward locations.

The countries with the most American troops are Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. These facilities serve as critical hubs for U.S. air and naval operations, regional logistics, intelligence collection, and force projection.

How many people were killed or injured?

Iran – killed: 201, injured: 747

On Sunday morning, the Iranian Red Crescent Society and state-linked official media reported preliminary figures of 201 people killed and at least 747 injured as rescue operations continued.

Since then, explosions continue to be heard across Iran, with Israel claiming to have carried out a large air attack on the “heart of the capital”.

The deadliest incident occurred in the southeastern Iranian town of Minab, where a strike on a girls' primary school reportedly killed at least 148 people and injured 95. The attack took place on Saturday and the death toll has continued to climb since.

Israel – killed: 9, injured: 121

An Iranian ballistic missile strike on Beit Shemesh in central Israel on Sunday afternoon killed eight people and injured around 20. Rescuers are still searching through the rubble.

On Saturday evening, a woman in the Tel Aviv area was confirmed killed after being hit by falling shrapnel.

At least 121 other people were reported injured, at least one seriously.

At least 40 buildings in Tel Aviv were damaged by Iranian strikes on Saturday, Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported, citing the city government.

American soldiers – killed: 3, wounded: 5

On Sunday evening, US Central Command announced that three American soldiers had been killed in action and five seriously injured by Iranian attacks.

“Several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions – and are returning to duty. Major combat operations continue and our response efforts continue,” US Central Command said in a statement.

Bahrain – killed: 0, injured: 4

Iranian missiles targeted the headquarters of the US Navy's 5th Fleet in the Juffair area of ​​Bahrain.

Bahrain's Interior Ministry also confirmed that the country's international airport was targeted by a drone, “resulting in material damage without loss of life.”

On Saturday evening, several residential buildings in the capital Manama were struck by Iranian drones.

Public hospitals said four people were being treated for shrapnel wounds.

Iraq – killed: 2, injured: 5

The United States and Israel have also targeted the Jurf al-Sakher base, also known as Jurf al-Nasr, in southern Iraq, which houses the Popular Mobilization Forcescomposed mainly of Shiite fighters, and the Iranian-backed Iraqi paramilitary group Kataib Hezbollah.

Iraqi state media and sources within Kataib Hezbollah confirmed that two fighters were killed in the strikes and five wounded.

In the semi-autonomous Kurdish region of northern Iraq, where the United States reportedly still has troops, several powerful explosions were reported near the U.S. consulate and Erbil international airport.

Air defenses intercepted the drone attacks on Saturday, according to reports.

Jordan – killed: 0, injured: 0

The Jordanian armed forces said they intercepted 49 drones and ballistic missiles that entered Jordanian airspace. Although their fragments caused localized property damage, there were no deaths or injuries in the kingdom.

Kuwait – killed: 1, injured: 32

The Kuwaiti Defense Ministry says the Ali al-Salem airbase was attacked by a number of ballistic missiles, all of which were intercepted by Kuwaiti air defense systems.

A drone targeted Kuwait International Airport on Saturday, causing minor injuries to a number of employees and limited damage to the passenger building.

On Sunday, the Kuwaiti Health Ministry announced that one person was killed and 32 injured.

Oman – killed: 0, injured: 5

On Sunday morning, the Oman news agency, citing a security source, reported that two drones had targeted the port of Duqm, injuring a foreign worker.

Later, the Oman Maritime Security Center said a Palau-flagged oil tanker was “attacked approximately 5 nautical miles (9 km) off the coast of Musandam Governorate in Oman, injuring four people.”

Qatar – killed: 0, injured: 16

On Sunday morning, the Qatari Interior Ministry confirmed that the number of injured stood at 16 people. Most of the injuries were believed to be due to falling shrapnel and debris, with one person seriously injured.

The Qatari Defense Ministry confirmed that two ballistic missiles struck the Al Udeid military base, where US forces are stationed, while a drone targeted an early warning radar installation.

Qatari air defense systems, in coordination with regional partners, managed to intercept around 65 missiles and 12 drones over Qatari airspace, the statement said.

The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority has suspended all air navigation indefinitely. Qatar Airways grounded all its flights and informed passengers that updates would be provided at 9:00 a.m. (06:00 GMT) on Monday.

All schools have moved to distance learning and public gatherings for Ramadan have been suspended until further notice to ensure public safety.

Saudi Arabia – killed: 0, injured: 0

The Saudi Foreign Ministry confirmed that the Iranian attacks targeted both the capital, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, which is home to major oil infrastructure and the King Abdulaziz Air Base.

The kingdom officially reported no casualties as of Sunday afternoon.

United Arab Emirates – killed: 3, injured: 58

As of Sunday afternoon, at least three people in the United Arab Emirates had been confirmed killed and 58 others injured.

A Pakistani national was killed and seven people were injured when debris from intercepted missiles and drones fell on a residential area near Abu Dhabi's Zayed International Airport.

The Ministry of Defense confirmed that another individual, identified as an Asian national, was killed by falling shrapnel in a residential area of ​​the capital.

Additionally, four staff members at Dubai International Airport were injured and four people were injured in Palm Jumeirah after a building fire caused by falling debris.

On Sunday afternoon, the UAE Defense Ministry said it had detected 165 ballistic missiles, destroyed 152, and intercepted two cruise missiles.
